The Carmel Fire & Rescue Department is a volunteer fire and ambulance service. Carmel participates in an automatic aid agreement with the Hermon Fire Department, Etna Fire Department, Levant Fire Department, and Newburgh Fire Department in the event of building fires, chimney fire, ice rescues and wild land fires.

The Fire Station is staffed with an EMT (minimum) and Ambulance Driver Monday through Friday from 8am-8pm.   At all other times, emergency calls are answered by on call responders backed up by mutual aid response.

Our members train every Tuesday night at 6:30 pm.

At least one smoke detector should be fitted to each level of your home; Maintain it properly and test it regularly; Never remove the battery from your detector, even for a short period.
