7:30 PM: Suzan Rudnicki called the meeting to order.
MINUTES: Douglas Small made a motion to accept the minutes of February 5, 2018 as written Jared Fitts seconded. Three voted in favor. Suzan Rudnicki abstained as she was not present for that meeting.
EXECUTIVE SESSION: Darren Corriveau requested an executive session to discuss a personnel issue. Suzan Rudnicki made a motion to go into executive session pursuant to 1MRSA § 405(6)(A) to discuss a personnel matter. Earlyn Bowers seconded. Four voted in favor. Selectmen went into executive session at 7:31 pm. Selectmen reconvened in regular session at 8:01 pm. No action taken, informational only.
NEW BUSINESS:
Maine Townsman Article: There was discussion about the Maine Townsman article included in this week’s packet, which says that ambulance income can only be used for ambulance specific expenses.
Town Landing: Kevin said there will be no increase in insurance for the proposed town landing
Rec Department: Kevin said Rec Director Deidra McIntosh and the Rec Committee are doing a great job with the Rec Department, and the Father Daughter dance was a great success again this year.
General Assistance Audit: Kevin said he mailed in the General Assistance audit, and it was all good
2017 Annual Report: Kevin let the Board know the annual report is going to the printer tomorrow morning.
Residents’ Sand Supply: Kevin said he witnessed a person filling the back of his pickup truck with sand from the residents’ little sand shed. There is a sign posted at the shed that says residents are limited to two five-gallon pails of sand per storm. There was discussion about possible ways to prevent this from happening, including simply not supplying it any more.
WARRANT: Jared Fitts made a motion to accept the payroll warrant of February 12, 2018 in the amount of $4,284.99. Doug Small seconded. Four voted in favor.
WARRANT: Jared Fitts made a motion to accept the accounts payable warrant of February 12, 2018 in the amount of $161,141.06. Doug Small seconded. Four voted in favor.
OTHER BUSINESS:
Senior Property Tax Relief: Doug Small brought up for discussion an article in Maine Townsman regarding people over 65 years old being absolved from tax foreclosure. If the bill passes and a senior citizen’s property became tax-acquired, the town would have to sell it for its assessed value, and the senior would receive the proceeds less taxes due. Kevin said he will have more information for next meeting.
