Regular Meeting (03-19-2018)

Selectmen Present:                Suzan Rudnicki, Douglas Small, John Luce, Jared Fitts and Joshua Devlin

Town Manager/CEO:           Kevin Howell

Recording Secretary:            Coreen Sylvester

Guests Present:                      Glennis McSorley and Toby Pelletier

7:30 PM:  Suzan Rudnicki called the meeting to order.

MINUTES:  Jared Fitts made a motion to accept the minutes of February 26, 2018 as written. Douglas Small seconded.  Three voted in favor.  John Luce abstained as he was not present for that meeting.

 

John Luce made a motion to accept the minutes March 12, 2018 as amended.  Joshua Devlin seconded.  Four voted in favor.  Jared Fitts abstained as he was not present for that meeting.

           

TOWN MGR/TAX COLLECTOR/CODE ENF OFFICER/RD COMM. REPORT:

 

  1.       The Town Manager let the Board know the title work for the town landing property will be done by Wednesday or Thursday.

 

  1.        Kevin Howell said the nomination period for the MMA Executive Committee is open now.  He is interested in serving on the committee but has decided to wait a year.

 

  1.       Kevin gave the Board his training schedule for this year.

 

  1.       Kevin stated that because he applied for the loan of a speed sign on a trailer, he is still going to get it, even though the town was given a stationary one.

 

  1.       Kevin asked if the Board had any feedback on this year’s town meeting.  Doug Small said he would like to see residents use a microphone when they speak from the floor.

 

  1.       Kevin said the additional needed sand was put up at 3:00 this morning.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

 

2018 Road Projects:  Kevin Howell stated there are a total of seven dirt roads in Carmel, and there was discussion.  Kevin said the short road into the back of our fire station was done with reclaim and has held up very well.  He would like to try putting reclaim on two or three of the small dirt roads.  The Town Manager and Selectmen discussed other possible road projects.

 

Fireworks Complaint:  Suzan Rudnicki said she has received a noise complaint due to fireworks being set off a lot of nights on Dyer Road.  Kevin said he will check our noise ordinance and see about having our deputy check it out.

 

WARRANT:  John Luce made a motion to accept the payroll warrant of March 19, 2018 in the amount of $3,271.49.  Doug Small seconded.  Five voted in favor.

WARRANT:  John Luce made a motion to accept the accounts payable warrant of March 19, 2018 in the amount of $10,071.94.  Doug Small seconded.  Five voted in favor.

 

Fire Chief Return:  Toby Pelletier asked how Fire Chief Ryan Simpson is doing.  Kevin stated Ryan started back to work today.

 

ADJOURNMENT:  Sue Rudnicki made a motion to adjourn.  Jared Fitts seconded.  Five voted in favor.  Meeting adjourned at 8:21 pm.
