Regular Meeting (07-08-2013)

Selectmen Present:             Suzan Rudnicki, Douglas Small, John Luce, Earlyn Bowers and Joseph Pelletier

Town Manager:                    Tom Richmond

Recording Secretary:            Coreen Sylvester

Guests Present:             Glennis McSorley and Toby Pelletier

7:30 PM:  Suzan Rudnicki called the meeting to order.

MINUTES:  John Luce made a motion to accept the minutes of June 24, 2013 as written.  Earlyn Bowers seconded.  Four voted in favor.  Douglas Small abstained as he was not present for that meeting.

 

ROAD COMMISSIONER/TAX COLLECTOR/TOWN MANAGER REPORT:

 

  1. Town Manager Tom Richmond stated the paving will be put on hold until he comes back from his vacation on July 29th.

 

  1. There was discussion regarding cemetery work being done by R&R Lumber.

 

  1. The Town Manager gave the Treasurer’s report as of June 30, 2013.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

 

Fire Truck Accident:  There was discussion about one of the fire trucks and fireman that had been in an accident over the weekend.  Tom said he had filed the employer’s first report of injury with MMA (Maine Municipal Association) this morning.  The truck will be taken to Auburn to find out the extent of its damages as soon as we find a trailer big enough to haul it.  Selectmen asked that we have the Fire Chief come to the next meeting to discuss the matter once he has more information.

 

North Carmel Cemetery:  Tom Richmond stated we had our first burial in the new section at North Carmel Cemetery, and he plans to get some new granite markers so it will be easier to mark out gravesites.

 

WARRANT:  John Luce made a motion to accept the payroll warrant of July 1, 2013 in the amount of $4,514.26.  Earlyn Bowers seconded.  Five voted in favor.

WARRANT:  John Luce made a motion to accept the Full-time fireman’s payroll warrant of July 1, 2013 in the amount of $739.81.  Earlyn Bowers seconded.  Five voted in favor.

WARRANT:  John Luce made a motion to accept the accounts payable warrant of July 1, 2013 in the amount of $130,321.88.  Earlyn Bowers seconded.  Five voted in favor.

WARRANT:  John Luce made a motion to accept the payroll warrant of July 8, 2013 in the amount of $3,832.49.  Earlyn Bowers seconded.  Five voted in favor.

WARRANT:  John Luce made a motion to accept the Full-time fireman’s payroll warrant of July 8, 2013 in the amount of $739.81.  Earlyn Bowers seconded.  Five voted in favor.

WARRANT:  John Luce made a motion to accept the accounts payable warrant of July 8, 2013 in the amount of $36,464.67.  Earlyn Bowers seconded.  Five voted in favor.

 

OTHER BUSINESS:

 

Roadside Mowing:  There was discussion regarding roadside mowing.  Doug Small asked what the outcome of the mower’s hitting an exhaust pipe problem was.  Tom stated that while doing the roadside mowing, the blade hit a piece of tailpipe from another car that was in the ditch and threw it through an upstairs window of Bruce Bourgoin’s house on Hinckley Hill Road.  Tom spoke with Mr. Bourgoin and told him we would pay for repairing the window.

 

Fuller Road Ditching:  Toby Pelletier asked why the ditch in front of her house was the only one that had not been seeded.  Tom stated they had started on the other end of the road and ran out of hay before they got to her house, and they will be back to finish it.
