7:30PM: Suzan Rudnicki called the meeting to order.
MINUTES: Earlyn Bowers made a motion to accept the minutes of May 8, 2017 as written. John Luce seconded. Three voted in favor.
NEW BUSINESS:
2017-2018 School Budget: Superintendent John Backus presented the proposed 2017-2018 School Budget.
Ambulance Collection Policy: Kevin presented a billing and collection policy that would allow for collection of accounts unpaid after the initial 90-day billing period. The selectmen had no objection to moving forward with the collection policy.
ROAD COMMISSIONER/TAX COLLECTOR/TOWN MANAGER REPORT/CEO REPORT: Kevin recapped the paving bids from the previous meeting and provided a document showing all of the bids and why Hopkins was chosen.
Kevin mentioned that the inmates from Charleston Correctional Facility were coming this Tuesday and Wednesday to do roadside litter cleanup.
Kevin spoke about repairing the railings on the Damascus Bridge and showed the engineer’s design.
Kevin reminded the Board that Selectmen’s meetings will be the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month.
Kevin mentioned that the 2016 Audit is complete and the printed books are in the mail.
Kevin gave an update on the restoration to the office, which is almost complete; there are only a few things left and they will be finished in the next few weeks.
OLD BUSINESS:
New Recycling Container: John Luce asked how the silver bullet recycling container was doing. Kevin said it was going very well, actually better than expected and he has had lots of comments on what a good idea it was. The first container was already filled and swapped out. He also mentioned that he would like to make something that would compact the contents which would result in less trips to Eco Maine.
OTHER BUSINESS: Kevin let the Selectmen know that MMA is coming next week to do a Safety Policy Training with the office staff.
Doug asked if Kevin could speak to the D.O.T. about cutting back the bushes on the Fuller and Rt 2. Kevin said he would speak to them about it. He also mentioned that he has had great success with the DOT about fixing problems in the past.
WARRANT: John Luce made a motion to accept the payroll warrant of May 15, 2017 in the amount of $13,880.68. Earlyn Bowers seconded. Five voted in favor.
WARRANT: John Luce made a motion to accept the accounts payable warrant of May 19, 2017 in the amount of $30,225.85. Earlyn Bowers seconded. Five voted in favor.
WARRANT: John Luce made a motion to accept the payroll warrant of May 22, 2017 in the amount of $5,525.97. Earlyn Bowers seconded. Five voted in favor.
ADJOURNMENT: Suzan Rudnicki made a motion to adjourn. Earlyn Bowers seconded. Three voted in favor. Two abstained. Meeting adjourned at 8:52 pm.
