Regular Meeting (06-14-2021)

Selectmen Present:               Suzan Rudnicki, Douglas Small, Jared Fitts, Isaac Raymond and Daniel Frye

Town Manager/CEO:           Kevin Howell

Guests Present:                     Mike Hodgins of Eaton & Peabody PA, Toby Pelletier and Glennis McSorley

7:30 PM:   Suzan Rudnicki called the Selectmen’s meeting to order.

MINUTES:  Douglas Small made a motion to accept the minutes of June 7,2021 as written.

  1. Daniel Frye seconded.  Three voted in favor.  Isaac Raymond and Jared Fitts abstained as they were not present for that meeting.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

 

Mike Hodgins – Eaton Peabody – Legal Opinion:  Following up from last meeting, Town Manager Kevin Howell let the Board know Anthony Glidden has submitted an application to the Planning Board for a rock quarry on his property on Horseback Road.  There was discussion between the Selectmen, Mike Hodgins and the Town Manager regarding the way a moratorium works and having a special town meeting to see if the townspeople want to enact a moratorium ordinance which would give the town time to revise land use and zoning ordinances to address rock quarries, gravel pits and mineral extraction within the town. 

 

After discussion, Daniel Frye made a motion to sign the warrant for a special town meeting to be held at 7:00 pm at the Golden Harvest Grange Hall on June 28, 2021.  Doug Small seconded.  Five voted in favor.

 

Carmel Days Update:  The Town Manager gave an update on plans for this year’s Carmel Days, which will be on October 2, 2021.

 

Rec Field Playground:  Kevin let the Board know he met with Joel from O’Brien & Sons and will attend a meeting with the Recreation Committee tomorrow to discuss playground options.

 

Roadside Mowing:  Kevin stated Aggressive Cuts will be in town starting tomorrow to begin this year’s roadside mowing.

 

Hermon Little League Community Service:  Kevin said Hermon Little League was in town on Saturday doing roadside trash cleanup as a community service project.  Kevin provided them with grabbers, safety vests, gloves, bags and a pizza lunch as a thank-you.

 

WARRANT:  Jared Fitts made a motion to accept the payroll warrant of June 14, 2021 in the amount of $6,936.23.  Dan Frye seconded. Five voted in favor.

WARRANT:  Jared Fitts made a motion to accept the accounts payable warrant of June 14, 2021 in the amount of $25,561.82.  Dan Frye seconded.  Five voted in favor.

 

OTHER BUSINESS:

 

Fire Department Defibrillator:  Isaac Raymond asked if the Fire Department has gotten their defibrillator, which was purchased with a grant from Firehouse Subs.  Kevin said they have, and someone is coming tomorrow night to give them training on it.

 

ADJOURNMENT:  Suzan Rudnickimade a motion to adjourn. Daniel Frye seconded.  Five voted in favor.  Meeting adjourned at 8:11 pm.
