Regular Meeting (05-24-2021)

Selectmen Present:                Suzan Rudnicki, Douglas Small, Jared Fitts, Isaac Raymond and Daniel Frye

7:30 PM:  Suzan Rudnicki called the Selectmen’s meeting to order.

MINUTES:  Douglas Small made a motion to accept the minutes of May 10, 2021 as written.  Daniel Frye seconded.  Five voted in favor.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

 

Municipal Quitclaim Deed – Tax Map 9 Lot 1-9A:  Suzan Rudnicki made a motion to sign a quitclaim deed for Joshua and Lori Devlin for property at Map 9 Lot 1-9A.  Jared Fitts seconded.  Five voted in favor.

 

Grange Hall Bingo License:  Douglas Small made a motion to approve a blanket letter of Bingo/Game of Chance for the Golden Harvest Grange, effective for one year.  Jared Fitts seconded.  Five voted in favor.

 

Bangor Humane Society Contract:  Jared Fitts made a motion to allow the Town Manager to sign a contract with Bangor Humane Society to renew our shelter services with them.  Isaac Raymond seconded.  Five voted in favor.

 

RSU 87 Referendum Warrant:  Suzan Rudnicki made a motion to sign the warrant for the RSU 87 Budget Referendum election on Tuesday, June 8, 2021.  Jared Fitts seconded.  Five voted in favor.

 

Cemetery Signs:  Kevin Howell showed Selectmen the design for the new sign being made for the Village Cemetery, and said the old Highland Cemetery sign will be donated to the Historical Society.

 

Spirit of America Award:  Kevin let the Board know he will be presenting the Spirit of America Award to Russell Treadwell Sr. at 11:00 am on Memorial Day at the Veterans’ Memorial.

 

Roadwork Update:  Kevin gave an update on the ditching that has been done on Bemis and Horseback Roads in preparation for reclaiming and paving this summer.

 

Rec Field Storage Building:  The Town Manager said the slab for the rec field storage building has been poured, so construction will be starting soon.

 

Rec Field Playground:  Kevin said he met with a gentleman from O’Brien & Sons to begin planning and coming up with ideas for a new playground at the rec field complex.

 

Poverty Abatement Requests:  Kevin stated Selectmen have received two poverty abatement requests, and he would like to schedule a hearing to give the applicants an opportunity to be present in the executive session if they choose.  Selectmen agreed to schedule the hearing for June 7th at their next meeting.

 

WARRANT:  Isaac Raymond made a motion to accept the payroll warrant of May 17, 2021 in the amount of $6,071.67.  Daniel Frye seconded.  Five voted in favor.

WARRANT:  Isaac Raymond made a motion to accept the payroll warrant of May 24, 2021 in the amount of $6,258.96.  Daniel Frye seconded.  Five voted in favor.

WARRANT:  Isaac Raymond made a motion to accept the accounts payable warrant of May 24, 2021 in the amount of $252,236.65.  Daniel Frye seconded.  Five voted in favor.

 

ADJOURNMENT:  Sue Rudnicki made a motion to adjourn.  Jared Fitts seconded.  Five voted in favor.  Meeting adjourned at 8:15 pm.
