Regular Meeting (02-24-2020)

Selectmen Present:                Douglas Small, John Luce, Jared Fitts and Isaac Raymond

Town Manager/CEO:           Kevin Howell

7:30 PM:  John Luce called the meeting to order.

MINUTES:  Jared Fitts made a motion to accept the minutes of February 10, 2020 as written Douglas Small seconded.  Four voted in favor.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

 

Election Clerk Appointments:  Jared Fitts made a motion to appoint the attached list of election clerks for two years from 2020 to 2022.  Isaac Raymond seconded.  Four voted in favor.

 

Town Meeting/Selectmen’s Meeting:  After discussion, Selectmen decided to schedule a Selectmen’s meeting for after Town Meeting in case there is anything that needs to be addressed.  Selectmen had no objection to closing the town office early Monday night so the staff can attend Town Meeting.

 

2020 Paving Bids:  The Town Manager said he would like to get the paving bids out as early as March this year if the Selectmen have no objections.  There were no objections, and Kevin said he would start getting the specs ready.

 

‘Welcome to Carmel’ Signs on Route 69:  Kevin let the Board know the two ‘Welcome to Carmel’ signs on Route 69 are both in very poor condition.  He would like to start getting estimates and design options and hopefully put new signs up once the State is done with their paving this summer, if the budget allows.  Selectmen had no objections.

 

2019 Spirit of America Recipient Bill Palmer:  Kevin showed Selectmen a certificate in honor of Bill Palmer that he received in the mail today from the Maine State Legislature.  He said he will get it to the Palmer family.

 

Roads Posted:  The Town Manager stated he posted the town roads today.

 

WARRANT:  Isaac Raymond made a motion to accept the payroll warrant of February 18, 2020 in the amount of $4,773.37.  Jared Fitts seconded.  Four voted in favor.

WARRANT:  Isaac Raymond made a motion to accept the payroll warrant of February 24, 2020 in the amount of $4,469.51.  Jared Fitts seconded.  Four voted in favor.

WARRANT:  Isaac Raymond made a motion to accept the accounts payable warrant of February 24, 2020 in the amount of $25,502.09.  Jared Fitts seconded.  Four voted in favor.

 

ADJOURNMENT:  Jared Fitts made a motion to adjourn.  Doug Small seconded. Four voted in favor.  Meeting adjourned at 8:52 pm.
