Regular Meeting (07-29-2019)

Selectmen Present:                Suzan Rudnicki, Douglas Small, John Luce and Isaac Raymond

7:30 PM:  Suzan Rudnicki called the meeting to order.

MINUTES:  John Luce made a motion to accept the minutes of July 22, 2019 as written. Douglas Small seconded.  Three voted in favor.  Suzan Rudnicki abstained as she was not present for that meeting.

Open Bids – Tax Acquired Properties:  Selectmen received the following bids for tax-acquired property:

Suzan Rudnicki made a motion to sell the property at Map 1 Lot 12-2A to Shawn Evans for $15,222.00.  John Luce seconded.  Four voted in favor.

 

John Luce made a motion to sell the property at Map 5 Lot 31G to Gregory Dubrowski for $897.07.  Douglas Small seconded.  Four voted in favor.

 

Open Bids – Town Garage Renovations:  Selectmen received one bid from Ralph McNaughton Construction Inc. for $32,883.86.  After discussion, Selectmen decided to consider other options including waiting until winter to put it out to bid again.

 

Quitclaim Deed – Doreen Brandafino-Murtha:  John Luce made a motion to sign the quitclaim deed for Doreen Brandafino-Murtha for property located on Map 5 Lot 22F.  Doug Small seconded.  Four voted in favor.

 

Investment Options – Camden National Bank:  Josh Brewer of Camden National Bank

discussed various investment options.  After discussion, the Town Manager said he would gather more information and speak with our auditor.

 

TOWN MGR/TAX COLLECTOR/CODE ENF OFFICER/RD COMM. REPORT:

 

  1. Kevin Howell gave an update on building and plumbing permits issued.

 

  1. Doug Small offered a proposal for wording for a plaque to be placed at the town landing.  It was decided Kevin would work on adding some historical matter to the dedication and bring the result into next week’s meeting for approval.  The Selectmen and Town Manager agreed to name the landing “Damascus Landing.”

 

WARRANT:  John Luce made a motion to accept the payroll warrant of July 29, 2019   in the amount of $5,085.69.  Douglas Small seconded.  Four voted in favor.

WARRANT:  John Luce made a motion to accept the accounts payable warrant of July 29, 2019 in the amount of $32,032.30.  Douglas Small seconded.  Four voted in favor.

 

OTHER BUSINESS:

 

CMP Pole Permit:  John Luce made a motion to sign a Central Maine Power pole permit for the Irish Road 415, one pole and an anchor.  Doug Small seconded.  Four voted in favor.

 

Paving Update:  Kevin stated B&B Paving has had delays, but should have our paving done by the deadline of August 15th.  Kevin said he has also asked B&B for an estimate on paving the sand shed area.
