Regular Meeting (02-25-2019)

Selectmen Present:                Suzan Rudnicki, Douglas Small, John Luce and Joshua Devlin

Absent:                                   Jared Fitts

Town Manager/CEO:           Kevin Howell

Recording Secretary:            Coreen Sylvester

Guests Present:                      Toby Pelletier and Glennis McSorley

7:30 PM:  Suzan Rudnicki called the meeting to order.

MINUTES:  Voting on the minutes of February 11, 2019 was tabled as there were not enough Selectmen present who attended that meeting.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

 

Ballot Clerk Appointments:  The Town Manager recommended Sheila Mahon and Hattie Stickney as ballot clerks.  John Luce made a motion to appoint Sheila Mahon and Hattie Stickney as ballot clerks for the Town of Carmel for the ensuing year.  Josh Devlin seconded.  Four voted in favor.

 

Town Meeting Moderator:  Kevin Howell said he has confirmed Julia Pike will be running for  moderator for the town meeting,

 

Spirit of America Foundation:  After discussion, Selectmen decided to honor the person to whom the annual report is dedicated each year for the Spirit of America Foundation award.  Since there is not enough time to put anything together for this year’s meeting, Selectmen also decided to have someone from Bill Palmer’s family come to a future Selectmen’s meeting to honor Bill.

 

Planning Board Resignation:  Kevin let the Board know that Herb Dean has stepped down from the Planning Board, and will not be available to set up the sound system for the town meeting either.

 

Town Office Early Closing for Town Meeting:  The Town Manager asked if Selectmen had any objections to closing the Town Office by 6:30 Monday night so all the staff can attend the town meeting.  Selectmen had no objections.

 

WARRANT:  John Luce made a motion to accept the payroll warrant of February 19, 2019 in the amount of $4,004.66.  Doug Small seconded.  Four voted in favor.

WARRANT:  John Luce made a motion to accept the payroll warrant of February 25, 2019 in the amount of $3,927.25.  Doug Small seconded.  Four voted in favor.

WARRANT:  John Luce made a motion to accept the accounts payable warrant of February 25, 2019 in the amount of $51,709.59.  Doug Small seconded.  Four voted in favor.

 

ADJOURNMENT:  Josh Devlin made a motion to adjourn.  Doug Small seconded.  Four voted in favor.  Meeting adjourned at 8:02 pm.
