Regular Meeting (06-24-2019)

Selectmen Present:                Suzan Rudnicki, Douglas Small, John Luce, Jared Fitts and Isaac Raymond

Town Manager/CEO:           Kevin Howell

Guests Present:                      Sheila Mahon, Glennis McSorley and Toby Pelletier           

7:30 PM:  Suzan Rudnicki called the meeting to order.

MINUTES:  John Luce made a motion to accept the minutes of June 17, 2019 as written. Douglas Small seconded.  Four voted in favor.  Suzan Rudnicki abstained as she was not present for that meeting.

 

TOWN MGR/TAX COLLECTOR/CODE ENF OFFICER/RD COMM. REPOR

 

  1.       The Town Manager informed Selectmen the assessor is coming tomorrow to set the tax commitment and said if Selectmen are comfortable with it, he (Kevin Howell) will commit this year’s taxes.  John Luce made a motion to allow the Town Manager to commit the taxes.  Jared Fitts seconded.  Five voted in favor.

 

  1.       Kevin said he has ordered the public works safety gear that is being funded by the MMA grant he applied for this spring and showed Selectmen the logos and printing that will be on it.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

 

Town Garage Bid Specs:  The Town Manager and Selectmen went over Kevin’s proposed bid specs for repairs on the Town’s garage in the village.  Selectmen approved of the specs.

 

Sale of Town Car:  After discussion, Jared Fitts made a motion to put the Town’s old car out to   Isaac Raymond seconded.  Five voted in favor.

 

Update on Rec Field Vandalism:  Kevin stated he had gone to the Rec Field again last Tuesday and there was a lot more trash everywhere and a lot more graffiti.  Deputy Carson came over and looked at it too, and said he has narrowed it down to three juveniles.  Kevin said he did a couple of interviews with news reporters, and the Sheriff’s Department has shared the information.  Kevin said he went over again this morning and there was no sign of trash anywhere.  He had the climbing rock painted to cover up foul graffiti and when it is discovered for sure who has been doing the vandalism, he will have them paint the dugout.

 

CMP Pole Permit:  Jared Fitts made a motion to accept a pole permit for new service on Irish Road for Central Maine Power.  John Luce seconded.  Five voted in favor.

 

Foliage Blocking Visibility in Village:  The Town Manager let the Board know he contacted D.O.T. regarding foliage at the Pelletier apartment house and the Whittaker house blocking road visibility in the village.  D.O.T. said it is not in their right-of-way, but they are looking for a line of sight easement from the owners so they can take care of it.

 

Roadside Mowing:  Kevin said Rick Drew of Aggressive Cuts should be out by next week to start roadside mowing.

 

Paving Update:  The Town Manager stated the paving didn’t get started this week because the paving company got hung up on another job.  Kevin said they will probably start sometime next week.

 

WARRANT:  Jared Fitts made a motion to accept the payroll warrant of June 24, 2019 in the amount of $5,441.79.  John Luce seconded.  Five voted in favor

WARRANT:  Jared Fitts made a motion to accept the accounts payable warrant of June 24, 2019 in the amount of $10,008.66.  John Luce seconded.  Five voted in favor.

 

ADJOURNMENT:  Suzan Rudnicki made a motion to adjourn.  Jared Fitts seconded.  Five voted in favor.  Meeting adjourned at 8:04 pm.
