ROAD COMMISSIONER/TAX COLLECTOR/TOWN MANAGER REPORT:
- Town Manager Tom Richmond let the board know that a taxpayer who has been in foreclosure status since 1998 has paid their taxes in full.
- There was discussion of work, including brush cutting, that needs to be done in the cemeteries. Tom said that once all the necessary work is done, we’ll put more crushed granite in some of the roadways with whatever we have left in the cemetery fund.
- Tom stated the old lawn mower that was bought for cemetery mowing and has been used for the town office lawn is not running, and he has asked Justin Thibodeau of Thibodeau’s Lawn Care to give us an estimate for mowing the town lawn.
- Tom said Fire Chief Mike Azevedo told him #421 fire truck had a broken control panel that has been repaired, but they are not sure yet whether it damaged the pump. The estimated cost to put it back on the road is $4,000.00. Mike said he has enough money in the current budget to fix it and do normal maintenance on the other vehicles, as long as nothing else major goes wrong. Tom said he has asked for a written explanation from the repair company to see what happened to it.
- Tom told the Board we have always had a fee-free checking account with our bank, and in July they charged us a service charge of $193 because they changed the checking account type. Tom said they have since agreed to remove the charge.
- The Town Manager said Superintendent John Backus is in the process of bidding on copy paper at $24.95 a case, and asked if we are interested in going in on it with the school. Tom told him we would purchase thirty cases for that price.
