Regular Meeting (10-06-2014)

Selectmen Present:                Suzan Rudnicki, Douglas Small, John Luce, Joseph Pelletier and Earlyn Bowers

7:30 PM: Suzan Rudnicki called the meeting to order.

MINUTES: Earlyn Bowers made a motion to accept the minutes of September 22, 2014 as written. John Luce seconded. Four voted in favor. Douglas Small abstained as he was not present for that meeting.

 

ROAD COMMISSIONER/TAX COLLECTOR/TOWN MANAGER REPORT:

 

  1. The Town Manager gave the Treasurer’s Report as of the end of September.

 

  1. Tom Richmond stated the dump body on the Public Works truck is deteriorating and will cost between $7,000 and $10,000 to replace.

 

  1. There was discussion about advertising for a Code Enforcement Officer as Stewart Brooks has given his two-week notice. Tom said he would also contact other towns that Stewart worked for to see if there is any interest in sharing a code enforcement officer.

 

  1. Joe Pelletier submitted a draft of a letter he had written to private ambulances to see if there would be any interest in housing an ambulance here, just to find out what options for ambulance coverage there are. There was discussion about the problems with our Fire and Rescue service, and Selectmen decided to have a meeting next week if acting Fire Chief Walter Hall is able to meet with them.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

 

Cemetery Bids (new three year contract): Tom Richmond stated the cemetery bids went out and are due back on October 22nd, and there has been interest from a few companies.

 

General Assistance Ordinance (Hearing Date): Suzan Rudnicki made a motion to schedule October 20th as a hearing date for General Assistance Ordinance changes. Joe Pelletier seconded. Five voted in favor.

 

New Fire Truck: The Town Manager stated fire truck #421 is going to need to be replaced, and asked if Selectmen wanted to put an article on the 2015 Town Meeting warrant. Selectmen decided to wait until current issues with the Fire Department are settled before making a decision on replacing the truck.

 

Cemeteries: Tom Richmond stated we have put three truckloads of crushed rock in Highland Cemetery and it is looking good. Sue Rudnicki asked if we have any plans to repair the stones in the Village Cemetery that were damaged when trees fell on them. Tom said he plans to have Willie Dunton and Thomas Benecke get in there to put the stones upright and glue them, but it may be in the spring when the inmates are here to help.

 

WARRANT: John Luce made a motion to accept the Full-time fireman’s payroll warrant of September 29, 2014 in the amount of $826.97. Joe Pelletier seconded. Five voted in favor.

WARRANT: John Luce made a motion to accept the payroll warrant of September 29, 2014 in the amount of $4,567.11. Joe Pelletier seconded. Five voted in favor.

WARRANT: John Luce made a motion to accept the accounts payable warrant of September 29, 2014 in the amount of $137,423.46. Joe Pelletier seconded. Five voted in favor.

WARRANT: John Luce made a motion to accept the Full-time fireman’s payroll warrant of October 6, 2014 in the amount of $826.97. Joe Pelletier seconded. Five voted in favor.

WARRANT: John Luce made a motion to accept the payroll warrant of October 6, 2014 in the amount of $4,145.12. Joe Pelletier seconded. Five voted in favor.

WARRANT: John Luce made a motion to accept the accounts payable warrant of October 6, 2014 in the amount of $160,294.12. Joe Pelletier seconded. Five voted in favor.

 

ADJOURNMENT: Sue Rudnicki made a motion to adjourn. Earlyn Bowers seconded. Five voted in favor. Meeting adjourned at 8:35 pm.
